CHESAPEAKE BAY FOUNDATION (CBF) AND
DUCKS UNLIMITED (DU) HABITAT STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM
The conservation district has entered into an agreement with
CBF and DU to establish a public-private relationship to assist in the
restoration of forested riparian buffers and wetlands along streams in
Clearfield County. This program provides strong incentives for landowners to
fence cattle out of the stream and create wooded stream buffers. The program
pays 100% of fencing and tree planting costs. Landowners can earn credits
for BMPs by creating wider than the 15 foot minimum buffer. Credits may be
used for barnyard stabilizing , fencing, roof gutters, milkhouse waste mgt.,
etc… The program is also interested in creating buffers and restoring
wetlands where there is no need for fencing. Call the district office at
765-2629 for more details.
