No Till Drill Rental

The Clearfield County Conservation District has a No Till Drill that can be rented out to farmers at $10.00 per acre.

No-till planting saves fuel, time and soil. Research has shown that no-till planting reduces carbon dioxide emissions from the soil, thereby storing or "sequestering" carbon in the soil as organic matter. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that accumulates in the atmosphere and may be contributing to climate change.

The majority of farmers use the drill to plant small grains, forages and cover crops. A common practice is to no-till a winter cover crop of rye after corn silage has been taken off a field. Landowners who wish to establish wildlife food cover plots on their property also may rent the "Great Plains" drill.

No-till planting prevents many tons of precious topsoil from eroding off of Clearfield County fields.
