4th Annual Dam Scramble

The Dam Scramble is an endurance trail challenge at the Curwensville Lake Recreation Area that will be held August 24th, 2013 at 8:30 AM. Participants can choose to take the shorter course of 11miles or the longer 18 mile course.
The majority of the course will be on single-track trails through the woods with many beautiful views of Curwensville Lake. Hills abound to get the heart pumping while leaving plenty of runnable surface.
We want you to have a challenging and rewarding “scramble” around the lake! While the challenge welcomes both hikers and runners, this will not be your average “walk in the woods” so please only attempt this if you are sufficiently trained.

Map and Course Description
The 2013 Scramble course will remain pretty much the same as the 2012 course. Follow these links to view approximate maps of the Dam Scramble Course which include the elevation profiles. Since the trails are so close to one another, participants will be running more mileage than what is shown on these maps. These views are for you, the runner, to get a feel of the terrain you will be experiencing. For the participants doing the Short Course, you will turn away from the Part 1 Course around mile 5.5 and head up a very steep hill and eventually onto the Part 2 portion of the route. Long Course participants will complete the remaining portion of the Part 1 of the course before finishing Part 2 of the course.

We also plotted the course on an aerial map of Curwensville Dam to give you an idea of where the trails will be going. ALL runners will start and finish at Pavilion 4 (green and checkered flags). On this map, the orange trail is the Long Course while the purple trail is the Short Course.
Currently, in the field the trails are marked with blue ribbon which ALL runners will be following. There will be a person at the split to direct runners where to go based on which course they are taking. Remember, keep the blue ribbons on your RIGHT AT ALL TIMES and ONLY FOLLOW THE RIBBONS, DON'T FOLLOW OTHER RUNNERS! Some of the trails are in close proximity to one another so the runner you are seeing may be on a different trail than you!
