The Red Oak (Quercus rubra) is a large deciduous tree celebrated for its robust growth and stunning fall color, featuring vibrant red and orange leaves. It can reach heights of 60 to 75 feet and has a broad, rounded crown. Red Oaks are valued for their strong wood and acorns, which provide food for wildlife. The height of the trees at purchase will be 24"-36".

Care Instructions:

  1. Light: Prefers full sun (at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily) for optimal growth.
  2. Soil: Thrives in well-draining, loamy soils; adaptable to a range of soil types, including clay and sandy soils.
  3. Watering: Water young trees regularly, especially during dry spells, ensuring the soil stays moist but not waterlogged.
  4. Fertilizing: Apply a slow-release, balanced fertilizer in early spring if soil nutrients are low.
  5. Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and remove any dead or damaged branches.
  6. Pests/Diseases: Generally resistant to pests, but watch for oak wilt and other fungal diseases. Good air circulation can help prevent issues.

With its majestic stature and striking seasonal display, the Red Oak is a fantastic choice for urban and rural landscapes alike!
