CLEARFIELD COUNTY SENIOR ENVIRONMENT CORPS
PROUDLY SERVING CLEARFIELD COUNTY SINCE 2001

The Clearfield County SEC has been in service since the spring of 2001 when it was started through a partnership of the Clearfield Planning Commission, the Clearfield County Conservation District, and the Clearfield County Retired Senior Volunteer Program.  A decade later, the group continues to actively participate in water quality monitoring, baseline data gathering, stream restoration projects, and in educating others about the environment.

While the group regularly monitors Abandoned Mine Drainage they are also active in monitoring of streams in watersheds where unconventional gas well drilling is underway or has already occurred.  Additionally, they maintain bridges on trails at the Curwensville Lake Recreation Area and assist the CCCD with the Upper West Branch Triathlon, Envirothon, Dam Scramble Trail Challenge, and Conservation Celebration.  They also help maintain the Bilger's Rocks Natural Area and have participated in clean ups along the West Branch Susquehanna River and it's tributaries.
If you or anyone you know is concerned about the quality of water in our county and other environmental issues and would be interested in becoming a member of the Clearfield SEC, please contact the CCCD Watershed Specialist at 814-765-2629 or come to the SEC meetings at 10AM on the first Monday of every month at the Curwensville Civic Center, 11 Stadium Drive, Curwensville, PA  16833.
