Envirothon is an annual event hosted across the nation that tests high school students on five environmental categories:

-Aquatic Ecology
-Forestry
-Soils and Land Use
-Wildlife
-Rotating Current Issues

Students work together in teams of 5 and travel from station to station, answering test questions and performing hands-on practices to score the most points. The team with the highest score from all five stations represents Clearfield County in the state-wide Pennsylvania Envirothon. The winning team from our state event will go on to represent Pennsylvania at the International Envirothon competition.

Every year, volunteers from the PA Fish and Boat Commission, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), the PA Game Commission, and members of our Conservation District board of directors volunteer their time to present tests and assist students. It is truly a community-wide event only made possible by our generous partners and sponsors.

If your school is interested in competing, reach out to the education coordinator at [email protected] for information, assistance with preparations, or school visits.

Visit the official PA Envirothon website for learning outcomes, station trainings, teacher resource guides, and more!
