This year we hosted 15 teams (10 high schools and 5 middle schools) that included 68 students. Participating schools were Dubois, West Branch, Curwensville, and Clearfield. We had volunteers from PA Fish and Boat, DCNR, and PA Game Commission as well as CCCD board members.
The students answered a total of 162 questions between the 5 topic tests, and the current issue this year was renewable energy for a sustainable future. The West Branch Fragipans took home gold, the West Branch Enviro”mentals” took silver, and the West Branch Old Growth Forest took bronze.
The 2024 State Envirothon was held on May 22nd. The West Branch Fragipans participated and placed 24th out of 63 teams. In addition to 5 topics that we tested on the State Envirothon does an oral component that they scored 97.67 being one of the highest in the State.
Please check back for dates and information on 2025's event. If you're school is interested in competing please don't hesitate to reach out to Rachel Fallon at [email protected].
